I would like to ask why people ume that catholics worship mary and the pope ?

i was just on this website and they were being very offensive even going so far as to call the apparitions of fatima a hoax and label the vrigin mary as the great ? why ? it makes me sad that people ridicule catholicism just because they dont understand its practices and beliefs surely six million people cant be wrong about it !!! what do you think this is?
