Video Converter for Mac?

What is the best video converter for Mac? I am specifically looking for one that can convert most video formats to a .mov format so I can use them in iMovie '09. I would also prefer that the video converter is freeware, not a trial/bs free one that gives you a watermark or screws you on the sound. Thank you.
